Vahram Mkrtichevich (Nikitich) Gayfejian was an Armenian artist. Honored Teacher and Honored Art Worker of the Armenian SSR. One of the greatest masters of Armenian painting. He brought to art his special spirituality, his deeply individual worldview, being able to add to everything that was said by the words of art about the world and man a uniquely peculiar word. Relying on some traditions of the national and world artistic heritage, creatively reinterpreting them in relation to his own tasks through the prism of the innovative quests of his era, V. Hayfejyan managed to find and establish in the Armenian painting of the first half of the twentieth century new figurative and stylistic principles, enrich its vocabulary. V. Gaifejian’s artistic experience, the potential inherent in his art, and his fruitful pedagogical activities over the course of decades significantly influenced the formation of the works of a number of different remarkable artists who made themselves known in the 1940s-1970s.
