    • The figure with the experimental batch in the amount of about 5 units. The order for these works in 1923 was received from the head of the art department of the Volkhov porcelain and faience factory Sergei Vasilievich Chekhonin. The author’s models were made of dark gray plasticine. Sculptor Yakov Troupyansky translated the works into plaster, the casts (three to five of each model) were painted by the artist with watercolors. But out of five statuettes Chekhonin liked only two – “Girl” and “Harmonist”, which went into circulation. The rest of the figurines were NOT produced!!!
    • Because of the resulting turmoil, Kustodiev transferred the right of production to the State Factory in Leningrad (the former Imperial Porcelain Factory). Plaster molds “Merchant on a Walk (Merchant in a Coat)”, “Merchant with a Muff (Merchant in a Coat)”, “Merchant with a Cat on a Chest (Beauty)”, “Girl (Dancer)” and “Harmonist” are preserved in the collection of the State Museum of Ceramics “Kuskovo Estate XVIII century”. The porcelain statuette “Harmonist” is not in the collection of the Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev House-Museum.
    • There is an undeniable resemblance between the characters and the images of the series “Russian Types”, which Boris Kustodiev executed at the request of Isaac Brodsky. Plastic expressiveness, vivid emotionality, national color, and a subtle understanding of the specifics of porcelain distinguish these works.
    • The uniqueness of the figure, preservation and limited edition with the dignity of will decorate a rich collection or serve as a memorable and rare gift for dignitaries.
    • Estimate: 265,000 – 400,000 ₽.

From childhood Kustodiev was fond of sculpture: he sculpted, colored figures and toys, gave them to acquaintances and friends.
