Interesting fact: August 20, 1940, recruited by the NKVD Spanish Stalinist Ramon Mercader, having infiltrated Trotsky’s entourage under the guise of Canadian Frank Jackson, came to visit him. Trotsky and his wife by that time had already lived for three years in Coyoacan, Mexico, in the neighborhood of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Mercader brought the disgraced revolutionary his manuscript to read – and when he was reading, he pulled out an ice pick from under his cloak and hit Trotsky on the head with it.The murder weapon was long thought to be lost until it was found literally under the bed of the Mexican policeman’s daughter.The ice pick that allegedly killed Trotsky is now in the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC.
