The icon of the Mother of God “Quench My Sorrows ” is an icon of the Mother of God, venerated in the Russian Orthodox Church as a miracle-working icon. The icon is celebrated on January 25 (February 7).
Venerable copies of the icon of the Mother of God called “Quench My Sorrows” are in many churches in Moscow and other cities.
An ancient icon of the Mother of God was located in the town of Shklov, Mogilev Province. Her list with the name “Quench my sorrows” was brought to Moscow by Cossacks in 1640 (or in 1655)[1] and was located in the Church of St. Nicholas that on Pupyshah in Sadovniki in Zamoskvorechye. For some reason later the icon was moved to the bell tower and was in oblivion. Its glorification dates back to the second half of the XVIII century. Especially many miracles occurred during the plague of 1771. This church kept records of many miracles from the miracle-working icon of the Mother of God, but later a fire destroyed all the documentary evidence.
