A record with author’s songs as a gift
Vladimir Vysotsky – Soviet poet, theater and film actor, singer-songwriter (bard), prose writer, screenwriter; Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1986, posthumously), winner of the State Prize of the USSR (“for creating the image of Zheglov in the television feature film “The Place to Meet You Cannot Change” and author’s performance of songs”, 1987, posthumously).
During Vysotsky’s lifetime, his songs were not officially recognized in the USSR. In 1968, the press launched a campaign to discredit his musical and poetic work. Up until 1981, no Soviet publishing house published a book with his lyrics. The censorship restrictions were partially lifted only after Vysotsky’s death, when the collection of his poetic works “Nerv” was published
According to some estimates, Vysotsky, who occupies one of the central places in the history of Russian culture of the 20th century, “had a strong influence on the formation of the views of his contemporaries and subsequent generations.”
