Leonid Aronovich Zhukhovitsky (May 5, 1932, Kiev, USSR – February 17, 2023) was a Russian writer, publicist and playwright. Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation (1996)The beginning of active creative activity coincided with the Khrushchev thaw. In prose, the most famous is the novel “Stop, look back…”, written in the 1960s. In general, Zhukhovitsky himself considered his best work to be the play “The Last Woman of Señor Juan”.Member of the Union of Writers of the USSR (since 1963).Secretary of the Union of Writers of Moscow, author of more than 40 books and 15 plays. The main theme of his works has always remained love. The author himself considered his most successful work to be the book “About Love”, which in Sweden was published in 185 thousand copies. Translated into more than 40 foreign languages, his plays were staged more than 350 times in theaters in Russia and Europe. Winner of several Russian and international literary awards.
Professor at Moscow International University and the Swedish Writers’ School. At the university, he taught the course “Writer in 10 Hours” at the Department of Journalism.
