    • Kotov (Kotov-Pamirsky) Nikolai Georgievich (1889-1968), painter and graphic artist of the realist school, master of panoramic painting. Graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1912-1917). One of the organizers of the AHRR, then the Union of Soviet Artists.
    • Initial art education was received in Tomsk drawing classes under S. M. Prokhorov. Graduated from the Tomsk Institute of Technology. He continued his studies at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1912-1917) under A. E. Arkhipov, A. M. Vasnetsov, K. A. Korovin, S. D. Miloradovich. In 1917 he returned to Tomsk, where he became one of the organizers of the Tomsk Section of Fine Arts. 1 From 1918 to 1920 he took part in the struggle against the Kolchakovs, then he was on a leading job in the bodies of public education and fine arts, simultaneously working as an artist on agitposters and agitation theater. In 1921 he moved to Moscow. One of the founders of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1922), an active participant of the Association’s exhibitions (1922-1929). Executive Secretary and one of the organizers of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
    • Studied at the MUZHVZ under Abram Arkhipov, Appolinariy Vasnetsov and Konstantin Korovin (1912-1917). In 1922 he became one of the organizers of the AHRR. In the 1930s was the head of a group of artists in the Pamir expedition of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1932). Participated in the reconstruction of Franz Roubaud’s panoramas: “The Battle of Borodino” and “The Defense of Sevastopol”. Personal exhibition was held in Moscow in 1933.
    • He worked mainly in landscape and genre painting, created posters and performed book illustrations. In 1920-1930-ies several times went on creative expeditions to Altai, Pamir, Siberia, where he performed several series of paintings and graphic works. In 1938, Kotov (Kotov-Pamirsky) Nikolai Georgievich was awarded the title “Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR”. The creative heritage of the artist is kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Russian State Library, the Taganrog Picture Gallery, the Tomsk Regional Museum of Local Lore and other collections.
