Artist Balabanov, Valery Nikolayevich – Russian painter, writer, philosopher, medalist, chief artist of the Central Television of the USSR (1969-1989), People’s Artist of Russia (1995), professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the Academy of Slavic Culture.
Author of a number of artistic works, including: triptychs “Requiem” (2000-2002), “Prayer about the Romanovs” (1989-1999), “Fields of Russian Glory”; paintings “Under the Graceful Cover”, “Flight of the Trinity” (1988), “Swimmer” (“Cathedral of Christ the Savior”) (1976-1986), “Talcovo Field” (1991-1994), “Virtual Supper” and others, author of the sketch of one of the highest military awards of the Russian Federation – the Order of Zhukov (1994), as well as a medal of the same name.
Member of the Union of Writers of Russia, member of editorial boards of a number of Russian magazines, Knight of the Order of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow.

Brief from the history:
The building of the Tsaritsyn Chambers is located on the territory of the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery along the southern part of the eastern wall.
Originally the chambers were called “the Tsarina’s chambers”. In 1846, in the first edition devoted to the history of the monastery, they were designated as “Tsar’s chambers of Empress Maria Ilinichna”. The modern term “Tsaritsyny Chambers” came into use only in the 1920s-1940s. The chambers were built for divine visits to the monastery of the wife of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Maria Ilinichna. The erection of two large-scale secular buildings on the territory of the monastery broke the closed monastic way of life in the monastery and turned it into a kind of royal “house” or “room” monastery.
