Statuette – Gogol’s character Manilov. The image of the landowner Manilov captures the type of idle dreamer.
In the poem “Dead Souls” N. V. Gogol created a whole gallery of images of landlords, one of which is Manilov. The author placed the characters in a certain order, showing the gradual moral degradation of the nobility. Manilov, who heads this list, stands on the first step and is the least corrupt among them. Despite his negative qualities, he has not yet lost his humanity and decency. The characterization of Manilov allows you to understand how not a bad person in essence, succumbs to his own weaknesses and refuses to develop, to be the master of his own life. The hero is not capable of action, it is much easier and more pleasant for him to go with the flow than to control his own destiny.
The famous series of LFZ 1950s, which includes sculptures: “Khlestakov”, “Gorodnichy”, “Bobchinsky and Dobchinsky”, “Chichikov”, “Manilovy”, “Korobochka”, “Plyushkin”, “Nozdrev”, “Sobakevich”.
