How much will you get for vintage items?
Each category of antique dinnerware has its own criteria of value and individual ways of valuation. However, there are also general rules that affect the redemption price:
Determining the value of antique dinnerware involves several key steps and factors to consider:
-
Identification and provenance:
- Markings: Examine the cookware for artisan marks, logos or signatures that may indicate the maker, country of manufacture.
- History: Ware from famous manufacturers or produced during certain historical periods may be more valuable.
-
Age:
- Antique items over 100 years old tend to be more valuable than more modern pieces.
-
Condition:
- Carefully inspect dishes for damage, cracks, chips and signs of repair. Whole items in good condition are usually more valuable.
-
Material and fabrication techniques:
- Evaluate the material (porcelain, earthenware, ceramic, silver, etc.) and the manufacturing technique. Rare and high quality materials as well as sophisticated manufacturing techniques can add value.
-
Rarity and uniqueness:
- Find out how rare or unique a given piece of dinnerware is. Limited editions, unique designs or items with historical significance are more valuable.
-
Documentation and bundling:
- Having documentation to prove the authenticity and provenance of the cookware can greatly increase its value.
- Availability of complete set and original packaging.
The valuation is done transparently, using collection catalogs and market demand. You receive the full appraised value in cash or by card transfer.
